Strawberry party

Our neighbor’s family owns a strawberry farm up north, so we thought, “let’s bring the strawberry party to the block!” And we did. It was so nice to see everyone, even if briefly:)

Loving Day

Yesterday was Loving Day, a commemoration of the 1967 landmark Supreme Court decision striking down laws banning interracial marriage, thanks to Mildred and Richard Loving. We’re so fortunate. We also spent the evening taking Lummi to the emergency vet for what turned out to be an upset stomach. Marriage, kids, love for a desperately in need of a haircut dog who lives to eat - we get to live our lives together and that’s pretty great.

On the verge…

We are at that threshold of the kids loving being near each other vs. being annoyed that they’re too close to each other and touching everything:) Wish us luck.

Black Lives Matter

Our neighborhood organized a family silent march today. It’s been a day of reflection and solidarity. Our kids are lucky to be living in this moment, to grow up prioritizing social justice, and to value the importance of being an ally to others.

As one opportunity to learn perspectives that are not our own, our preschool has started a podcast dedicated to challenging people’s orientation to words, thoughts, and advice, hosted by two male early childhood educators of color. We’re privileged to have become part of the Hilltop Children’s Center community, and this podcast is an example of the dialogue our kids are fortunate to share and lead with their teachers and friends. Discharged!

Holmes went to physical therapy today and he passed all his tests and is officially discharged! While it’s the end of an era, to see him evolve and move forward has been wonderful to see. Thank you, Tara and Swedish Pediatric Therapy!
