We should be out for dinner, but I think summer camp has been a hit this week.
We’ve finally started reading Harry Potter! After the kids do their night jobs, we read a chapter in the hallway. They’re loving the books and we’re loving this activity.
Clothing choices by Meryl. Makeup, also by Meryl.
Happiest of birthdays to you! Cheers for making every story an adventure. And for making every adventure a story. Here‘s to many more.
Yesterday was National Boba Day and the U-District held its first Boba Fest! A celebration of Boba where almost 20 boba shops celebrated these IG-worthy drinks with their globules of delight. We took the kids and they did great with the crowd and lines and the subsequent sugar rush was a fun ride for everyone.
We pulled up the gate in our car and Lummi and the kids have enjoyed the access to each other. It only took us almost six years to figure this out.
No such thing as too many marshmallows.
Picked up Meryl early for a couple of outings with a cream puff from Le Fournil in tow. One day we went to a windy Gas Works Park and another day we did some escalator escapades at U-Village. Cheers to adventure in the mundane!
Sarah went to Walla Walla for a much deserved girls trip, so we held things down while she was away (with much appreciated help from Lola). Thank you, FaceTime, for Meryl showing her lunchbox card and Diwali light to Mama. Happy Diwali to all who celebrate this Festival of Lights.
Quick jaunt to Pike Place Market to visit the Fish Guys and poke the Monkfish! We talked about monkfish liver, sablefish, Dungeness crab, and jumbo prawns. Eat more seafood and support your fisherpeople and fishmongers!
Holmes and I went for a long bike ride today and visited Lolo’s Spot at the Olympic Sculpture Park. Stopped for a moment to catch our breath and tell the Apo some Lolo stories.
The Hokey Pokey is alive and well.
Take NASA helmets that were Christmas gifts, add an Amazon gift bag with cutouts to make it a ‘spacesuit’, and two barefoot astronauts for your basement adventure.
A visit to Fisherman’s Terminal for an adventure walk.
Meryl is working on her reading and she joins the lineage of kids everywhere (and likely all of us) by reading Highlights! She enjoys the activities, games, and works on her letters and reading. Added bonus of receiving Mail.
We love moments like this. Where Meryl and Holmes can just play and be with each other. And we can just sit back and watch, that for this moment, they are just having fun with each other.
Our neighbor and friend, Kim, has a cooking series on YouTube and she made chanterelle toast in her latest episode. We watched with Meryl, who then wanted to make it for dinner. So we did! She cleaned and prepped the mushrooms, added them to the pan, stirred, and when ready added the cream and salt and pepper. She finished by adding some parsley and topping the lot on some toast. Our little chef!
