Need for speed

We started on the Magic Carpet (amazing!), and then Meryl had a need for speed that only a chairlift(!!!) could provide. On the last run, I told Meryl that my muscles turned into jelly and she said hers turned into Nutella.

Happy Christmas Eve!

We hacked together a Feast of the Seven Fishes and all ate dinner with Xanna, who had a homemade Beef Bourguignon shipped from Kyra! Xanna also got an early present when Holmes said, “hi, Xanna!” Now, time for us all to put on our Christmas Eve pajamas (Lummi, Xanna and Grandpa too - he jumped into them earlier and gave his soft PJs stamp of approval)…and set out a treat for Santa tonight:)

Wild (ballet) Things

How cool! The Pacific Northwest Ballet (PNB) transitioned from a longtime Nutcracker set and their Principal Harpist purchased the scene for holiday decorations for all to see. Back in the ‘80s, PNB partnered with Maurice Sendak on the set design, which became a Seattle holiday tradition…thankfully still around to see. All the more ‘wild’ in the wild!

“I can do everything by myself”

As Frank had an evening meeting, Meryl was so excited to help with Holmes’ bedtime routine - all by herself:) She insisted on reading him books and learning all of the nighttime routines we do with Holmes when Frank and I split up and tag team the bedtime rigmarole. Holmes, initially off put by the change in ‘his’ routine, quickly figured it out and appreciated his big sister time.

Reconnaissance

After dropping the kids off at school, we headed up to Snoqualmie for a little reconnaissance before bringing Meryl. With no ski lessons this year, she ‘gets’ to learn from me! We’ll see how this all works out:) Here goes it!

Singing with Baylie

Baylie stopped by with holiday treats tonight and Meryl couldn’t resist the chance to sing a Christmas song with her. We all appreciated Baylie’s wonderful singing voice! In the end, Holmes stole the show as she was leaving by saying, “bye Baylie,” unprompted:) Melted her heart and made her day!

High Five!

Meryl is working on her reading and she joins the lineage of kids everywhere (and likely all of us) by reading Highlights! She enjoys the activities, games, and works on her letters and reading. Added bonus of receiving Mail.

Santa’s helper

Meryl helped Frank wrap Lummi’s gifts today and hid them under her shirt while she walked them to the Christmas tree. Nope, she’s not expecting another baby, nor have we celebrated a birthday today…yet.

Holiday yum

Hot chocolate bombs from Sonja, a decadent orange scented panettone from Lisa, and holiday plates from Xanna…who quite possibly has more dish ware than a catering company, so it’s fitting that she and the kids got holiday plates to eat together from afar!
