Schoolhouse Rock

Holmes got to join Baylie today at a round table discussion with the Attorney General of Washington, Bob Ferguson, about domestic workers rights! In Baylie’s free time, she has worked hard to pass a Domestic Workers Bill of Rights, representing the nanny community of Seattle. And today, the discussion also extended to talk of a state and federal law - Go Baylie!

Seattle is the first city in the United States to have a Domestic Workers Bill of Rights. In July last year, the City passed a Domestic Workers Ordinance, which gives minimum wage, rest break, and meal break rights to domestic workers, in addition to creating a Domestic Workers Standards Board. And in September last year, the City also added civil rights for domestic workers to Seattle’s existing Fair Employment Practices law.

Life skills

Welp, I hit Margy’s curb, popped a tire…and, conveniently parked so close to the sidewalk we needed LD’s garage of handy accessories to install the spare. Neighborhood affair on either side of the house! (And by “we,” the effort was all Frank. Meryl and I worked hard to pick-up doughnuts in thanks.)

Same jacket, same view

And almost a year a part! Apple picking, scootering, and visiting the new Honey Bucket in the hood…in a driveway, behind a car, and not on the sidewalk like the others - luckily, we have fine tuned Honey Bucket sighting skills:)
